About the Trip

This trek will lead you across majestic dunes (ergs) that are part of the deep history of the nomadic people. You’ll discover a rarely visited section of the Drâa Valley – at times fertile, at times arid – with ever-changing landscapes.

Level: Intermediate & adaptable – 10–15 km walking per day

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1
Your driver will pick you up early in the morning in Marrakech (from the airport or your accommodation) and take you to M’Hamid El Ghizlane.
Arrival in the evening and warm welcome by the travelersinnmorocco.
Spend your first night in a desert bivouac, already far from the modern world.

Day 2
We begin our trek with a camel caravan and our nomadic team.
We’ll head to Erg Aït Ounir, a dune known for its unique color.
We’ll set up camp and spend the night under the stars.

Day 3
On this second trekking day, we head to Erg Zahar – the “singing dune,” one of the two largest in Morocco, located near the Algerian border.
In the afternoon, you can rest or climb the dune for breathtaking views.
Evening around the campfire with nomadic songs.

Day 4
We journey toward Zmila – a magnificent valley near the border, surrounded by large dunes and acacia trees.
After setting up camp, we’ll enjoy another magical evening by the fire.

Day 5
Today we head to Boukawar, where we’ll camp among fine, nearly white sand dunes.
Evening campfire and peaceful night in nature.

Day 6
We make our way back to M’Hamid through the palm groves.
Visit to the village kasbah.
After lunch, your driver will take you to Ouarzazate.
We’ll stop in Tamegroute to visit its historic Quranic library.
Overnight in a charming hotel with buffet dinner.

Day 7
Transfer to Marrakech – either to your hotel or directly to the airport.
End of the journey.
